Avoiding Bankruptcy By Avoiding Debt - Consumer Help Radio Episode 3

by admin | October 23rd, 2008

Can you avoid bankruptcy by avoiding debt?  Sure you can - but how?  In the age of zero-interest financing for medical procedures ranging from Botox to tummy tucks and beyond, this episode discusses a way to autmatically budget for those things you want but may not be able to afford right now.

Taken from an article found on Debt Law Network by Susanne Robicsek, a Charlotte, NC bankruptcy lawyer.

Introduction To Consumer Help Radio

by admin | September 15th, 2008

This is consumer help radio.  I’m your host, Jay Fleischman.

First, a brief introduction.

Consumer help radio was born out of the ashes of the Debt Podcast, an internet show discussing bankruptcy and consumer protection laws.  It had a great run, but I pulled the plug because I was frustrated.

People were snapping up real estate so fast I had whiplash.  The stock market proclaimed yet again that the rules had changed.

Friends of mine - smart people with advanced degrees - were buying houses with no money down, adjustable rate mortgages, and assurances that they’d be able to get refinanced in a year.

Credit card debt was spiraling out of control.

People were spending faster than a Wall Street banker in the 80s could do lines of cocaine.

So here we are.

2008, the end of the world.

Investment giants crumble.

Banks shut their doors in record numbers.

Hundreds of thousands of people go into foreclosure and lose their homes every month.

Employees are slashed out of their jobs in droves.

The government has run out of money trying to bail out private industry.

Makes you wonder if it is the end of the world, right?

Well, guess what - it is.

Every day you wake up to a new reality, grimmer than the one in place when you went to sleep the night before.

How do you protect yourself?

Your family?

Your children?

Knowledge is power, my friends.  And power is hard to come by.

I’m here to make it easier.

And I’m not one of those self-styled gurus like the ones you see on tv or listen to on the radio.  I’m a consumer protection lawyer, have been since 1995.

I know the laws, the ins and outs, and how to balance the scales.

Big money interests are holding you by the unmentionables.  They think they have you trapped.

Until now, they were right.

Time to fight back, people.

No topic is off-topic.  If it has to do with your money, it has to do with consumer help radio.
